The Royal Free has a CAMHS located within the hospital, which provides a liaison service to Paediatrics and A&E. The CAMHS also includes a specialist Eating Disorder service located at Queen Mary House in Hampstead. The Royal Free CAMHS is a large, multidisciplinary team comprising of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Psychology, Family Therapy and additionally in the Eating Disorders service, specialist Nurses, Dieticians and Family Support Workers.

The Eating Disorders team provides a service to patients from six London boroughs. The general CAMHS team has specialisms in the assessment and treatment of ADHD and provides specialist assessments and treatment plans for children who may have neuro developmental or neuro psychiatric disorders. Within the general CAMHS team the Child Psychotherapists’ primary tasks are State of Mind assessments, Psychotherapy and Parent Work. Hospital liaison is multi-disciplinary, providing an  emergency service for young people who present in A&E in crisis.

The general paediatric liaison service receives referrals from colleagues in paediatric gastroenterology, diabetes, haemophilia and the neonatal unit, amongst others, also from adult oncology in relation to children of their patients. Children and young people with acute, chronic or life limiting physical conditions may be referred. Interventions may focus on adaptation to new diagnosis or chronic illness, or may address the psychological barriers to physical care, psychological management of symptoms and bereavement work.
