Race is Complicated - a toolkit for psychological therapies training
Following consultation with trainers and training providers in February 2021, the Coalition partners agreed to commission and deploy a toolkit to support the development of skills, knowledge and understanding for delivering inclusive counselling and psychotherapy training across a range of learning organisations.
With an initial focus on race and ethnicity, the primary objective of the Race is Complicated toolkit is to help the counselling and psychotherapy sectors better understand and address race and diversity. The interactive toolkit provides support on three areas of course provision: the institution, the training programme, and the individual tutor.

The Toolkit is being launched on Thursday 19 October 2023. Further information is available on the Place2Be website
An online Train the Trainers event has been organised by BACP on Tuesday, 21 November, 9.30AM-1.30PM. This event will offer guidance and support on how to apply the toolkit in practice. It will be delivered by two members of the coalition who are experienced counselling and psychotherapy trainers. The toolkit authors will introduce the toolkit.
