Regenerating Seaside Towns and Communities

The ACP responded to a House of Lords Select Committee inquiry on Regenerating Seaside Towns and Communities. Although the committee is not focussing on mental health this was an opportunity to make the point that access to child and adolescent psychotherapy is very limited in many coastal areas and seaside towns.

This is particularly problematic as there are greater levels of need in these areas including high levels of deprivation and large populations of looked after children. We urged the Committee to draw attention to these concerns and make recommendations for increased resourcing of specialist child and adolescent psychotherapy in those seaside towns where services are currently absent or limited.
