Research Matters Forum - Publishing Your Doctoral Research

The Journal of Child Psychotherapy has a long history of publishing the research conducted by its members. We are pleased that the number of submissions of this kind have grown in recent years as a consequence of training schools integrating Doctorates more fully into child psychotherapy training. We want to support those who wish to publish their research, and invite any trainee or qualified members interested in hearing more about the process to attend this event. We will be sharing information about publishing, both in the JCP and other journals, and hearing about the experience of some of our authors.

Dr Rachel Acheson is an ACP registered Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist trained at IPCAPA. She works predominantly with adolescents, and has experience of working in school settings, NHS CAMHS, inpatient and hospital services, as well as in the voluntary sector. Her doctoral research focussed on silence in adolescent psychotherapy and used data from the IMPACT study. She has taught on pre-clinical MSc courses the Anna Freud Centre and Birkbeck and is Editor in Chief of the Journal of Child Psychotherapy.

Chaired by Dr Elena Della Rosa, Deputy Director of Scientific Development for ACP, a child psychotherapist in independent practice and research supervisor on the doctoral training at the Tavistock.

ABOUT RESEARCH MATTERS FORUM

The aim of this bi-monthly forum is to bring together child psychotherapists who want to learn more about research, to enhance their knowledge, skills and to find other colleagues who may be interested in similar topics for potential collaboration.

The research carried out by members has been spurred by their clinical practice and interest in clinical issues. This discussion forum will enable dialogue on how to tackle clinical dilemmas and ethical practice in research.
