ASD, ADHD and Intellectual Disabilities
Join our one day conference focussing on ASD, ADHD and intellectual disabilities, where we will cover:
•An update on ADHD neuroscience including (i) applied to clinical practice (ii)A review of the evidence for non-pharma interventions
•ADHD and associated problems including (i) Are NICE guidelines fit for current practice? (ii) Using and understanding medicines (iii) Treating comorbid states: emotional dysregulation, epilepsy, substance misuse
•Autism and Associated Problems including (i) Impact of DSM changes, NICE implementation (ii) Effective interventions (iii) Treating comorbid states
•Differentiating ADHD/ASD from ID; a clinical perspective including (i) The importance of identifying an ID (ii) Understanding developmental presentations
Our speakers
•Professor Eric Taylor is Emeritus Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at King’s College London Institute of Psychiatry and Honorary Consultant at The Maudsley. He is a recent past Chair of ACAMH, a former editor of the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry (JCPP) and a frequent presenter of Masterclasses in ADHD.
•Professor Edmund Sonuga-Barke is Professor in Developmental Psychopathology at the University of Southampton, where he is Director of the Developmental Brain-Behaviour Laboratory. He has Visiting Chairs at Ghent University in Belgium and Aarhus University in Denmark. He is the current Editor-in-Chief of JCPP, a Board member/trustee of ACAMH and a presenter of Masterclasses in ADHD.
•Professor Ann Le Couteur is Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Newcastle University and Honorary Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Trust. She co-leads the Nationally Commissioned Complex Needs Neurodevelopmental Disorders Service (CNDS). She is a past Chair of ACAMH and a frequent presenter of Masterclasses in ASD.
•Dr Mark Lovell is a dual trained Consultant Child and Adolescent Learning Disability Psychiatrist working for Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. He is the vice chair of the Childand Adolescent Intellectual Disability Psychiatry Network (CAIDPN). He is a Board member / trustee of ACAMH, board lead editor of The Bridge and acting lead for CPD.
•Dr Samuele Cortese, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, is Clinical Associate Professor, University of Southampton, and Honorary Consultant, Solent NHS Trust. He is the incoming Branch Liaison Officer on the ACAMH Board with responsibility for overseeing membership and the branch network; he is also on the advisory board of JCPP.
