This is a challenging, stimulating opportunity for a child psychotherapist who has perhaps reduced their hours and has some time to commit to the wider organisation, or for someone who is considering changing their current working arrangements.
Ideally the successful candidate would have a minimum of five years post qualification working in NHS, third sector or independent practice, some management experience and prior experience of the Ethical Practice Group.
For interested parties who have not already been part of the EPG, we are inviting applications from members to join the EPG now, on a voluntary basis, in order to become familiar with the processes and the group/ committee in readiness for taking over the role of chair in a few months.
Job summary:
This is a very interesting and challenging role working with a committed and thoughtful group of cpt and lay members in the interests of protecting the public, ensuring good practice and protecting the reputation of the profession. Members of the group are voluntary apart from the Chair and the Deputy, who is renumerated for one session a week. The Chair liaises regularly with the Director of Professional Standards and there is dedicated admin support for the work of the group.
This is a remunerated post at Band 8a /0.2WTE. Currently the arrangement is for two sessions per week and is reviewed every six months in relation to the level of work demands. There is a minimum of one session per week. There are often time limits for responding to different steps in the Disciplinary Procedure so the postholder needs to be in a position to check emails and respond promptly.
Main duties:
- the primary task of the Chair is overseeing the Complaints process which involves:
- Answering queries from members and the public
- Screening complaints along with deputy chair and lay member
- Corresponding with complainants and members
- Appointing and advising Investigating, Practice Review, Fitness to Practise and Disciplinary panels
- Ensuring members are offered support when a complaint has been made against them
- Arranging and chairing termly Ethical Practice Committee meetings, one of which is in person in London
- Providing quarterly summary of anonymised complaints in progress for the Board
- Attending Professional Standards Committee meetings which are 6 times a year on the second Friday of the month.
- Attending Executive/Business Meetings which are monthly on the first Friday of the month.
- Reviewing relevant policy and procedures and amending as necessary
- Liaising with ACP lawyers on occasion

A working understanding of the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics and some experience of the Disciplinary Procedures is essential
