An exciting opportunity at the Journal of Child Psychotherapy

The JCP is looking for an Assistant Editor to join the established and friendly editorial team.

The JCP, first published in 1963, is the official journal of the ACP. It aims to represent the pluralism of clinical practice, theory and research in psychoanalytic child and adolescent psychotherapy, to promote the exchange of diverse perspectives and to provide a forum where new ideas can emerge and be debated. The JCP plays a vital role in facilitating the scientific development of our discipline and bringing together our national and international community of child psychotherapists and allied colleagues.

We are advertising for an Assistant Editor post. We hope to attract applicants who have a demonstrable interest in research in the field, and in progressing at the Journal to take more senior positions in future as part of our planning for succession.

Most of our work is conducted remotely and we welcome applications from ACP members in any geographical location.

This role offers the opportunity to learn about the processes involved at all the various stages, from initial submission and peer review to preparing papers for publication, as well as promoting the Journal via social media and involvement with ACP events. A large part of the role will be editing and proofreading papers. It is also an opportunity to be involved in thinking through editorial decisions with the other editors and the wider Journal Editorial Board.

We are looking for applicants who share our passion for continuing to extend the reach of the Journal: geographically; in our interaction with other disciplines; and in engaging deeply with issues of equality, diversity and inclusion. We are keen to continue to raise the profile of the Journal, broaden our audience and increase reader engagement. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about advancing the future development of the JCP, recognising its role in contributing to the growth of the profession.
