Safeguarding Children in the Therapeutic Process
Course Objective: to equip professionals who work therapeutically with children and young people with the knowledge required to keep the process safe
Learning Outcomes: by the end of the day participants will have had the opportunity to-
- Learn about national and local safeguarding procedures
- Explore the role of the therapist in working together with other child welfare agencies
- Consider signs and indicators of abuse
- Know how to respond to disclosures of maltreatment
- Deal with dilemmas about confidentiality
- Understand the process involved in allegations made by children and families against professionals
Gretchen Precey is an independent social worker, trainer and consultant who specialises in child protection practice. She offers courses on safeguarding at a national level to a variety of multi-agency child welfare groups and continues direct practice as an expert witness and assessor in complex cases for the family court. www.gpsocialwork.co.uk
