 n \n <p>&nbsp\;</p>\n \n <p><span style="font-fami
 ly:Arial\,Helvetica\,sans-serif\;">The inner world
s of Looked After Children\, Care Experienced Youn
g People\, and adopted children have long inspired
the work of Child Psychotherapists. Their experie
nces - and those of their families\, foster carers
 \, and professional networks - are rich\, complex\
, and often deeply traumatic. Yet\, in recent year
s\, fewer forums explore these children and famili
es in depth. This conference provides a dedicated
space to do just that.</span></p>\n \n <p><span st
 yle="font-family:Arial\,Helvetica\,sans-serif\;">R
ecent changes in the care system - shaped by the M
unro Report\, cuts to council funding\, and evolvi
 ng patterns of permanency\, fostering\, kinship\,
and Special Guardianship - have added new layers o
f complexity to the lives of these children and th
e adults who care for them. Despite shifts in the
system\, the challenges remain profound: enduring
 distress\, intergenerational trauma\, strained pro
fessional dynamics\, and the testing of adult capa
cities to meet their mental and emotional needs.</
 span></p>\n \n <p><span style="font-family:Arial\,
 Helvetica\,sans-serif\;">These children often carr
y feelings of loneliness\, confusion about identit
y\, and a sense of being outsiders. In adolescence
\, they are particularly vulnerable to exploitatio
n\, and the effects of early trauma continue into
 adulthood\, influencing mental health\, education\
, employment\, and social belonging. Their experie
nces also deeply affect foster\, adoptive\, and ki
 nship families\, residential homes\, schools\, and
  workplaces.</span></p>\n \n <p><span style="font-
 family:Arial\,Helvetica\,sans-serif\;">The growing
presence of unaccompanied minors and asylum-seeki
ng young people adds urgent new dimensions to this
work. These children may have survived traffickin
 g\, war\, torture\, or abandonment\, and they requ
ire extraordinary psychological support to process
  dislocation\, grief\, and loss - often in a socia
l climate marked by hostility toward migrants.</sp
 an></p>\n \n <p><span style="font-family:Arial\,He
 lvetica\,sans-serif\;">This conference is a vital
opportunity for ACP Child &amp\; Adolescent Psycho
therapists to come together\, reflect\, and deepen
their understanding of these vulnerable children\
, their families\, and the networks that support t
 hem.</span></p>\n \n <p style="margin-bottom:11px"

DESCRIPTION:\n \n \n \n \n Dates & Times:\n \n \n \n 17th Jun
 e at 6:00pm to 8:00pm – Online Session 1 (with rec
 ording)\n \n \n \n 20th June at 8:30am to 5:00pm –
  In person in Sheffield\n \n \n \n 24th June at 7:
 00pm to 9:00pm – Online Session 2 (with recording)
 \n \n \n \n  \n \n \n \n The inner worlds of Looke
 d After Children\, Care Experienced Young People\,
and adopted children have long inspired the work
of Child Psychotherapists. Their experiences - and
those of their families\, foster carers\, and pro
fessional networks - are rich\, complex\, and ofte
n deeply traumatic. Yet\, in recent years\, fewer
forums explore these children and families in dept
 h. This conference provides a dedicated space to d
 o just that.\n \n \n \n Recent changes in the care
system - shaped by the Munro Report\, cuts to cou
ncil funding\, and evolving patterns of permanency
 \, fostering\, kinship\, and Special Guardianship
 - have added new layers of complexity to the lives
of these children and the adults who care for the
 m. Despite shifts in the system\, the challenges r
 emain profound: enduring distress\, intergeneratio
nal trauma\, strained professional dynamics\, and
the testing of adult capacities to meet their ment
 al and emotional needs.\n \n \n \n These children
often carry feelings of loneliness\, confusion abo
ut identity\, and a sense of being outsiders. In a
dolescence\, they are particularly vulnerable to e
xploitation\, and the effects of early trauma cont
inue into adulthood\, influencing mental health\,
education\, employment\, and social belonging. The
ir experiences also deeply affect foster\, adoptiv
 e\, and kinship families\, residential homes\, sch
 ools\, and workplaces.\n \n \n \n The growing pres
ence of unaccompanied minors and asylum-seeking yo
ung people adds urgent new dimensions to this work
. These children may have survived trafficking\, w
 ar\, torture\, or abandonment\, and they require e
xtraordinary psychological support to process disl
ocation\, grief\, and loss - often in a social cli
mate marked by hostility toward migrants.\n \n \n
\n This conference is a vital opportunity for ACP
Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists to come togeth
er\, reflect\, and deepen their understanding of t
hese vulnerable children\, their families\, and th
 e networks that support them.\n \n \n \n Conferenc
 e Chairs and Programme\n \n \n \n We’re delighted
to announce that this year’s conference will be ch
aired by Katie Argent and Joanne Miley\, feature p
resentations from more than ten inspiring ACP Chil
d and Adolescent Psychotherapists from across our
community and reflected on by our special guests M
